Our Team Riverside

All guides on the Riverside Team are certified by the Italian Rafting Federation. The training programs of the Italian Rafting Federation (FIRaft), the national sports body responsible for rafting and hydrospeed disciplines in Italy, are structured according to the directives of CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee – National System of Sports Qualifications) and the international guidelines issued by the World Rafting Federation (WRF), within their respective areas of competence.
The Federation’s Technical Regulations are designed to provide a framework for safety, prevention, and training for river navigation within the sports disciplines of rafting and hydrospeed.

Hi Daniele, tell us a bit about yourself and your journey!

I was born in Rome in 1990, but my desire to discover new worlds took me far from home. After earning my degree in dental hygiene, I lived in Valtellina, where I discovered rafting on the Adda River. It was love at first sight: what started as a simple adventure soon became my job and my lifestyle.

How did you turn your passion for rafting into a profession?

I began chasing summer around the world: Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile… wherever there was sun and water, I was there. This journey led me to become a Level IV/A Rafting Guide certified by the Italian Rafting Federation.

What inspired you to join the team Riverside and bring this experience back to your hometown, Rome?

I asked myself: why go to the other side of the world to experience nature when we can enhance what we already have at home? Rome has two extraordinary rivers, the Tiber and the Aniene, which tell stories thousands of years old and offer stunning glimpses of nature. These waterways hold immense historical and cultural value, but they need to be rediscovered and cared for. Rivers have always been the cradle of civilizations, and it is thanks to them that Rome was born and thrived. Taking care of our rivers means taking care of our history, our identity, and our future. With rafting, we can combine sport, nature, and culture into a unique experience, rediscovering Rome from a completely new perspective.

Hi Marianna, tell us about yourself!

I’m from Carrara, I was born in 1991, and the river has become my second home. It all started almost by chance in Val di Vara, in the mountains of La Spezia, when I tried rafting for the first time in Brugnato.
From that moment on, a powerful passion was born that led me to change my life.
Today, I’m a certified Level IV/A Rafting Guide, a FICK canoe instructor, and a UISP sports teacher, with a Master’s degree in Sports Science.
In 2011, I had the honor of joining the women’s national rafting team, competing on spectacular rivers all over the world—from Europe to Asia, from New Zealand to Latin America.
This adventure allowed me to live and work in extraordinary river environments, from Italy to Patagonia, and to turn a passion into a true mission: helping others discover the river as a place of sport, exploration, and connection with nature.

So why did you decide to join the team Riverside and start the Riverside Roma project?

When I’m in the water, I enter a world of my own—a place of deep connection with nature. In Rome, I discovered a new way of experiencing the city, by reconnecting with the ancient bond between the Capital and its river, the Tiber.
That’s where Riverside Roma was born: a project to help people rediscover Rome from the water, through the Tiber and the Aniene. Not just rivers, but living pathways that tell the story of the city from a different perspective, revealing hidden views and forgotten tales.
Our dream is to bring both locals and visitors back to the river, to experience it as a vibrant part of the urban and social fabric.

Team Riverside Roma ASD

Hi Elisa, tell us a bit about yourself and your professional journey.

From a young age, I discovered my calling for education and outreach—fields I’ve pursued with passion for over twenty years. Born in 1986, I’ve dedicated my professional life to creating meaningful connections between children, families, and nature.
I’ve always deeply believed in the power of biophilia—that innate bond that connects us to the natural world—and in the value of conscious parenting that supports children as they discover the world.
I’m convinced that true education is born from a community that collectively cares for its youngest members, building a sense of well-being that benefits not only children, but society as a whole.

Tell us about your role on the team Riverside.

At Riverside Roma, I’ve found the perfect space to put my educational philosophy into practice, creating a bridge between Rome’s rivers and the next generations.
I design and lead environmental education workshops specifically tailored to different age groups: from the very little ones (1–2 years old) who attend with a parent, to children aged 3–6 and 7–11.
Through age-appropriate and engaging activities, I help children discover the magic of the river ecosystems of the Tiber and Aniene.
Seeing their eyes light up when they encounter the rich life that inhabits our rivers is one of the greatest joys of my work.
Each workshop is an adventure that blends play, scientific discovery, and wonder—elements I believe are essential to spark a lasting love for nature in young hearts.
